RAISE YOUR COMFORT LEVEL
IN FRONT OF A GROUP
Whether it's a one-on-one meeting or you are giving a presentation in front of 200 people, sooner or later you're going to become aware that people are watching you.
Being comfortable when you are the center of attention can be a secret weapon of business success. Being poised with yourself in front of others adds confidence and authority. Whether you know it or not, when you're relaxed, you subtly convey the sense you are genuine and trustworthy. Other people will be more at ease with you and pay more attention to your message if they feel you are at ease with yourself.
Here are a few tips to help you get over the jitters when standing in front of people:
Stop looking in the mirror so much. If you've made certain your hair is neat, make-up fixed, and clothing is buttoned, zipped, etc., quit looking at yourself.
Wear or carry something that makes you feel terrific. It doesn't even have to be something that people see, just something to remind you that you're someone special.
Concentrate on what you're good at. Remind yourself of the special talents or knowledge you bring, and let your confidence grow from those.
Have something great to say. When you keep people interested in what you're saying, they don't care what you look like.
Pay attention to those you're meeting with whether it's one person or 200. Interact with them, ask questions, make eye contact, smile. You give off a welcoming glow when you think well of others, and it increases your own confidence in your surroundings.
